When you unpack the job of a YouTuber or influencer it starts to resemble something else. Steam locomotives were a type of train back in the day. To move, coal had to be constantly shovelled into a furnace to produce steam. Unless this was done around the clock, the train wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. This is essentially what a YouTuber is doing now. Constantly shovelling coal into a furnace. Except the coal is called content. And the furnace is an algorithm. But it’s actually harder. Cause sometimes the furnace doesn’t like the type of coal, for no apparent reason. And train won’t go. So you have to try all different types of coal until the train goes again. And on top of that, people are watching you shovel the coal all the time, and if you slack, or take a break, they heckle you. Or they ask you why your shovelling technique is all wrong. They know better. And then, with no warning, the furnace suddenly demands that coal is out, and oil is in. And your shovel is suddenly no good.

At least the people making trains go choo choo by shovelling coal had time off.
